2022 Subaru WRX STI Horsepower, Price, Release Date – Although it may look like an old car, the 2022 Subaru WRX STI is fantastic. The unabashed brutality of a vehicle without the more elegant, refined sheen of something like the Volkswagen Golf R is curiously appealing in a world where most performance sedans and hatchbacks also have to be able to manage the daily grind.
The WRX STI is, without a doubt, practical. You get the impression that usability is just a bonus because of the bodyshell Subaru placed over the hardcore underpinnings when you take it for a test drive. Everything about the Subaru is unadulterated and uncensored. If you’re looking for an exhilarating driving experience, this is the car for you!
2022 Subaru WRX STI Redesign
Exterior Design
The 2022 Subaru WRX STI appearance is everything but subdued. It’s so blatantly performance-oriented that installing a speaker on the roof is the only way to make other drivers aware of it. Huge air intake scoop, Brembo brake calipers, LED headlamps that respond to steering input, big trunk spoiler – the STI has it all. Adding a low-profile spoiler to the trunk of the Limited model is a free option. Moonroofs are standard on the Limited model.
The WRX STI sedan’s overall length is 180.9 inches, which isn’t a massive departure from the hatchbacks it competes against. There are 104.3 inches of wheelbase to 70.7 of breadth. The 58.1-inch height of the STI is very high for a vehicle of its caliber. The basic STI is the lightest, weighing 3,450 pounds, while the STI Limited totes 3,514 pounds of cargo. The Golf R and Honda Civic Type R are shorter than the WRX STI. If you’re looking for something sportier, you’ll have to look elsewhere.
Interior Design
The interior is designed with the driver in mind, focusing on convenience and comfort. In addition to the steering wheel and shifter, there is a leather-wrapped handbrake located to the left of the shifter. The torque-split adjustment button and the driving mode selector are situated beneath the shifter. You won’t hold to carry your sights from the road to use these functions in a matter of days. The black and red leather seats have a sporty, body-hugging design. They provide decent corner support.
The rest of the interior features are similar to those found in the Impreza line. Keyless entry, heated front seats, a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth are just a few of the conveniences you’ll enjoy with the Starlink infotainment system, which also includes dual USB ports. An eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and GPS are included in the Limited variant.
2022 Subaru WRX STI Engine
Subaru tweaked the STI’s powertrain a little bit in 2022. There was a complete overhaul of the engine’s components, from the air intake through the pistons to the ECU. 310 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque were produced as a result. Even yet, the STI’s engine has a dated vibe to it. Finding a car that still exhibits turbo lag after introducing modern turbocharged engines paired with automated transmissions with eight or more ratios is unusual. You can fly after you get it running and keep it in the power range.
There is only one transmission available: a six-speed manual. If you want to drive a sports car every day, this gearbox is a great choice. When all you want to do is get from one end of town to the other, the STI makes you work hard for it. There is nothing better than cruising along a highway when the turbocharger is already in full effect. There’s nothing quite like it in that situation. Is it worth the effort to live with a return that is only a fraction of what you’d get in the long run?
