2023 Subaru WRX Sedan AWD, Horsepower, Price

2023 Subaru WRX Sedan AWD, Horsepower, PriceSubaru’s famed rally-related WRX performance trim for the Subaru Impreza Sedan was separated in 2014 into its own vehicle. Enhanced suspension and bodywork, and an enhanced engine, exist all parts of what placed the 2023 Subaru WRX Sedan separated from the Impreza. For the double generation of the all-wheel-drive performance sedan, Subaru is moving onto the Subaru Global Platform and separating it from the Impreza.

One of two powertrain options will be available: a six-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission, dubbed Subaru Performance Transmission by the manufacturer. A close, more available, and additional aggressively-styled car with advanced dynamic capability has been created by Subaru while still keeping a focus on practicality and utility. We climbed behind the wheel of a Japanese car to check if it had achieved its goals.

2023 Subaru WRX Sedan Redesign

Exterior Design

There isn’t much that distinguishes the 2023 Subaru WRX Sedan from its predecessor, including its conspicuous hood scoop. When you look carefully, you’ll note that its headlights were pushed to the corners to make place it for a more prominent grille and the aerodynamic alterations made to the vehicle’s form. The plastic wrapping surrounding the arches is hexagonally patterned to assist airflow akin to a golf ball, and every intake and vent is completely functional.

The new WRX is also wider, and the front fenders are now composed of aluminum rather than painted steel. Subaru installed new coverings under the car to improve aerodynamics and cooling. Additionally, a new rear spoiler and vehicle stabilizer have been incorporated into the design. Additionally, a redesigned front bumper with an integrated under spoiler and air vents in the wheel wells are included in the aero package. The hood inside steals the show, and that too is larger.

Interior Design

The car’s all-wheel-drive system and strong chassis necessitate cost-cutting measures to keep the WRX’s starting price under $30K. Before, this meant a plastic-wrapped interior, and little has changed since then. Even so, the build quality appears to be outstanding, and Subaru has done a good job of not making the driver-focused cabin feel cheap by focusing on a great feeling steering wheel, supporting seats that keep you in business when cornering difficult, and a new 11.6-inch touchscreen.

Instead of being flashy, the instrument panel is clean and straightforward, with all the settings and knobs in the right places. Instead of a parking brake that requires pressing a button, we prefer the now-retro mechanical handbrake. Legroom in the rear, which measures 36.5 inches, is appropriate for adults and children of average height. The 60/40 split-folding back of the rear seat makes it easy to stow skis or a snowboard, and it’s also simple to attach roof bars or a rack to the roof.

2023 Subaru WRX Sedan Engine

While the flat-four in the Subaru WRX makes 271 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, it isn’t particularly fast. Only 3 horsepower is more potent than the old one, with no gain in torque, despite another 0.4 liters. While beating off the line and out of hubs is more important than anything else, this version accomplishes so with more finesse and vigor than earlier iterations, all the while incorporating an instantly identifiable throaty soundtrack.

Because the CVT version has been delayed, our test car came with a manual transmission. This was alright because the new configuration features a soft clutch and a well-measured pedal layout for rev-matching. Its AWD technology uses a locking center differential to split power 50/50 front/rear and shift drive to the wheels with the most grip when conditions are unfavorable. The WRX is eager to find the first corner if you crank up the rpm and let go of the clutch. When the CVT-equipped cars arrive, they will use a Variable Torque Distribution system with a higher rearward bias (45/55).

2023 Subaru WRX Sedan Release Date and Price
